Consumer warning

related to Kopp socket outlets with integrated increased contact protection.

As a producer of current-carrying articles, we are aware of our responsibility and regulate our processes for development, production and testing according to the strictest criteria. In most series, we use increased contact protection as standard, even though this is not required for many areas of application.

In the course of our continuous quality checks, we have found that some single sockets with integrated increased contact protection may have defects. This refers only to the increased touch protection function; the sockets themselves are safe and functional and ensure standard touch protection. Only the optional increased touch protection may not be provided.

The movable part, the so-called „shutter“, may not be able to close completely and thus not withstand the tests when a pointed object penetrates from one side. This can lead to an electric shock and the resulting hazards in case of improper use (e.g. insertion of conductive objects or materials) as with any „normal“ socket outlet with standard protection.

Affected are the Kopp single socket outlets (with and without hinged cover) with increased touch protection from the series Paris, Milano, Rivo, Venice, Athenis, Malta, Europa, Vision, Standard UP wet room, Standard AP (IP20), Vienna, Thaya, London and Ontario which were distributed in the period from January 2020 to December 2022 mainly via DIY chains, internet portals and various electrical wholesale companies.

For you as a consumer, it is difficult to determine whether the increased touch protection is functional or not. For this reason, we provide our customers with free socket protection sets for increased contact protection, which can be safely and unproblematically retrofitted into the socket pot should you need or want the increased contact protection
