Kopp flips the switch at Light and Building

Heinrich Kopp GmbH presents many innovations at Light and Building. Included: INFRAcontrol motion detectors, Blue Electric moisture-proof switches, sockets and moisture-proof models from the HK 07 series as well as new solutions from ASA.

Heinrich Kopp GmbH extends the INFRAcontrol range with the surface-mounted motion detectors R110AP, R180AP and R270AP. With different detection angles of 110°, 180° and 270°, the products share a major technical innovation: zero-crossing switching. High inrush currents often occur when switching LED light sources. Kopp’s new AP motion switches switch connected loads in the zero crossing of the sinusoidal curve. This technology reduces the load on the relay contacts and significantly extends the service life of the motion switches.

Blue Electric with two new products

The Blue Electric moisture-proof switch range has also been expanded. New in the range is the earthing contact socket outlet with combination lock. With 1000 freely selectable combinations, the lock prevents unauthorised third-party use, for example in shared washing basements. Kopp has also added a surface-mounted data box for 2 Keystone modules to its Blue Electric range. Like all products in the range, it is suitable for use in damp rooms, workshops or in sheltered outdoor areas.

Suitable individual components for HK 07

The HK 07 switch range from Kopp has been specially designed to meet the needs of electrical installers. With a standardised rocker size of 55 x 55 mm and a large selection of colours and surfaces, the switch range of around 60 products is particularly flexible: external system components can also be easily integrated. Kopp is now presenting new sockets with hinged lids and a damp-proof set suitable for the flush-mounted switch range HK 07, which brings the sockets up to IP 44. In addition, the HK 07 switch range now includes a motion detector without intermediate frame, which is available in 2-wire and 3-wire versions. The whole family is in great demand for USB ports for charging smartphones or tablets. Therefore Kopp offers a new socket outlet with two USB ports that can be used simultaneously.

Kopp is also upgrading its furniture electrification with new products from its cooperation partner ASA plastici. As part of Light and Building, Kopp will be presenting ExitFLY. The electrical connection system can be elegantly integrated into the tabletop. For this purpose, the recessed table piece is used as a cover during assembly. ExitFLY is available in different versions – and is suitable for both a simple desk and a multimedia conference table.

VersaTURN is a motor-driven installation solution from ASA. The swivelling power supply system with multimedia modules can be easily opened at the touch of a button. A laser controlled system prevents VersaTURN from closing when the slots are occupied or obstacles are in the way.

With VersaCHARGER, Kopp launches an inductive charging station with Qi technology for wireless charging of smartphones and tablets. The charger fits elegantly into the surface of the worktop and can easily be used in everyday (office) life. This makes the charging process a pleasant secondary matter.

VersaDOT also provides a direct power connection. The round socket and USB installation modules are suitable for mounting in hard surfaces such as wood or plastic. First the frame is fixed and the desired housing is simply snapped into the frame. The cable outlet remains hidden from the user.

VersaPICK only offers USB ports. The charging modules are available in different versions. They consist of an installation kit and adapter and differ in material and shape. The special: VersaPICK can be mounted on flat and padded surfaces.

The modular VersaNET installation unit provides free access to power and data connections. Thanks to the integrated brush, VersaNET can also be used when the cover is closed – the cables are routed to the table surface without jamming.

PRCD-S pro from Kopp

Craftsmen often have to connect their tools on construction and assembly sites to sockets whose functional reliability they cannot check in advance. This can be dangerous because faults in the electrical installation cannot be detected immediately. The new PRCD-S pro series from Kopp guarantees safe power consumption even without prior testing.

With the PRCD-S pro, Kopp defines a new generation of portable fault current protection devices. The devices not only meet the requirements of VDE 0661 and the expectations of the professional associations, they also offer numerous other functions that make the mobile personal protection devices even safer for craftsmen and installers in their everyday lives. Heinrich Kopp GmbH has applied for a patent for these extensive extensions compared to the classic PRCD-S. The new PRCD-S is a new generation of the PRCD-S.

Now also switch on with gloves

The previous PRCD-S requires direct skin contact to switch on, so that the protective conductor can be correctly checked during the switch-on process. The new PRCD-S pro series from Kopp can now also be operated with gloves and insulating work shoes.

After switching on, the PRCD-S pro checks whether the protective conductor (PE) is properly connected and free of external voltage. In addition, the device checks the quality of the protective conductor and can only be switched on if the resistance value of the protective conductor (PE) is sufficiently low. The PE resistance is also continuously checked during operation. If the protective conductor is damaged or interrupted during operation, the PRCD-S pro switches off for safety reasons.

Self-test ensures safety

Also new is the self-test of the PRCD-S pro: The fault current circuit is automatically checked every time it is connected to the socket and every two hours of operation. The switching contacts of the devices are also continuously monitored. These functions meet the requirements for maximum safety.

On construction sites, machines are often operated which have to be controlled in their working speed. These speed adjustments are made, among other things, with the aid of frequency converters. In the event of a fault, these devices generate smooth DC fault currents in addition to the 50 Hz AC and pulse DC fault currents. In contrast to conventional type A protective devices, the PRCD-S pro also detects smooth DC residual currents.

All PRCD-S pro devices from Kopp are offered with IP67 protection.

Flexible and versatile – The new Smart Home from Kopp

The new Smart Home from Kopp

With the development of numerous products, Heinrich Kopp GmbH is playing a major role in driving the Smart Home theme. This year, the long-established company from Kahl am Main is expanding the functionality of its own smart home solutions with a new gateway and the appropriate mobile app.

The Kopp MINI Gateway from Kopp connects a large number of devices in the intelligent home across manufacturers and systems and combines them on a central interface: the Kopp HomeControl App. In this way, users will remain independent in the future and keep track of their intelligent home at all times.

Merging many systems

The Gateway MINI is the digital basis for the Kopp Smart Home. It recognizes different radio standards, translates them into a uniform language and merges all information into the Kopp HomeControl App. All infrared devices and a number of smart home radio systems from different manufacturers can be controlled on the 868 MHz radio frequency via IP network – either by smartphone, tablet or voice command.

HomeControl is the right app for controlling the intelligent home. Kopp offers it for free at the Google Play Store and the Apple Store. The app can be used to retrieve and monitor status messages of the operating status of the taught-in Smart Home components as well as sensor events. The Smart Home can also be controlled remotely via mobile Internet access.

New Generation Free-control

In addition to the MINI gateway, Kopp is also launching a new generation of the smart Free-control radio system. The devices can be controlled classically via a hand-held transmitter and wireless wall switches or via the HomeControl App. The system works bidirectionally. That the smartphone can receive status messages, the free-control receivers give feedback as to whether the command has been executed. In concrete terms, this means that the app indicates whether a lamp is switched off or on.

Underfloor heating complements smart building technology

Another innovation in Kopp’s Smart Home is an intelligent controller for underfloor heating. All radio components can be easily installed and integrated into the home automation system. The central control element of the heater is the base station. It records all measurement data as well as the information of the respective room control units and controls communication with all connected system components. The base station can be connected to the Kopp MINI gateway and centrally controlled.

In addition to optimized control, Kopp’s smart underfloor heating system scores with modern control algorithms that can be adapted to local conditions and enable energy-efficient and convenient temperature control.

It is a perfect complement to modern LED lights: The new universal dimmer from Kopp. The built-in device can not only cope with different loads and illuminants, but also with switches from other manufacturers. Thus Kopp offers a dimmer that belongs to the standard repertoire of every installer.

Until now, every light source needed a suitable dimmer. Those who had decided on a load type had to stay with it. Otherwise, humming dimmers or flickering lights threatened. With the universal dimmer from Kopp, not only LEDs can be controlled, but also classic incandescent lamps, 230 V halogen lamps and 12 V halogen lamps with electronic or conventional transformers. This is made possible by automatic load detection. The flush-mounted dimmers are supplied in automatic mode. When the voltage is applied, the built-in device detects whether an inductive or capacitive load is present. In addition, the operating mode can also be switched manually from phase control to phase control and vice versa. The dimmer is equipped with a DIP switch for this purpose.

Installation for compatibility and convenience

In combination with LED, the universal dimmer from Kopp shows its strengths to the full. More and more consumers are converting to particularly energy-efficient lighting. The minimum brightness can be adjusted over a wide range to suit the respective LED luminaire. The universal dimmer from Kopp thus prevents the lamp from flickering and always achieves an optimum result.

Kopp also pays special attention to compatibility and comfort during installation. The flush-mounted dimmer bases are suitable for all switch ranges from Kopp and for the products of other brand manufacturers. A shaft adapter (axle adapter) from 4 mm to 6 mm for use in the dimmers of other switch makes is included in the scope of delivery. This makes the universal dimmer from Kopp ideal for renovation projects in which the existing switches are to be retained.

Matching LED dimmers for different light sources

In addition to the universal dimmer, Heinrich Kopp GmbH is presenting three new LED dimmers at Light + Buliding. Today, the majority of LED luminaires available on the market are designed for dimming by phase control or phase section. Depending on the light source, Kopp offers one RL dimmer with a rated output of up to 100 W and two RC dimmers with 50 W and 150 W respectively.

The new socket outlet base

Innovative product convinces with speedy installation

The new socket outlet base is a real milestone in our range from Heinrich Kopp GmbH: the new development bundles the comprehensive know-how of the specialists in electrical installation material in one product. Sophisticated features make work quicker: funnel-shaped cable runs make the installation of rigid conductors with a cross-section of 1.5 to 2.5 square millimetres easier. At only 32 millimetres in depth, the base can be installed quickly, easily and safely. The claws isolated from the supporting ring offer exceptional safety. Kopp is immediately introducing this innovation for all trade flush-mounted switching programmes.

On the construction site or at the customer’s property, speed, safety and simplicity matter. A critical eye is often cast toward the tradesman. Is every grip in place? Is the work progressing at a reasonable pace? Time-consuming small jobs in particular often take up a great deal of time. This includes the installation of a power outlet, which often doesn’t go as quickly as it could. This was the incentive for Heinrich Kopp GmbH to develop a real innovation with the new socket outlet base, the advantages of which will make the tradesman’s work easier in the long run.

In addition to the increase in speed, quick and easy installation of the base also offers further advantages: the flush-mounted inserts for single or multi-strand rigid conductors provide a lot of room for connecting the cable ends to the base. If they have to be released, ergonomic, easily accessible release buttons make it easy to just pull the cable ends out. Easy-to-read laser markings on the high-quality surface coating provide orientation aids for smooth installation at all times. And in the case of aligning multiple combinations, they offer greater installation safety than commercially available products.

Claws that are full recessed into the base make it easy to insert into the switch box. The quick thread screws with uniform Type Z Size 1 combi-slotted screw heads only have to be turned three times with a screwdriver to fully extend the claws. The base is fixed in a jiffy. If the position has to be corrected, simple claw resetting makes the installation adjustment easier and the realignment uncomplicated. In this case, the claws spring back automatically.

The new base is always safe to work with. So the claws are isolated from the supporting ring opposite and thus remain voltage-free, even if the conductor sheath is damaged. Accidents and shorts are prevented. The supporting ring is 1mm thick, stable and torsion-resistant.

The new Free Control 3. 0 for a future-proof Smart Home

With the development of a large number of new products, Heinrich Kopp GmbH is playing a major role in driving the Smart Home theme. One of them is the Free Control 3. 0. Thanks to the latest generation of Free Control, light can be switched and dimmed very easily, roller shutters and awnings can be effortlessly controlled, sockets can be switched and regulated remotely. Perfect also for AAL applications.

Comfortably control and secure your house and apartment: This makes Free Control possible with maximum operational reliability. The user has the choice whether he uses a classic radio hand transmitter for control or operates the HomeControl App on a mobile device.

Free Control works bidirectionally with 128 Bit AES encryption. Encrypted sending of signals is a must in today’s smart home, but still not a standard in many systems. The same applies to bidirectional communication between the transmitter and receiver: in this way, the user receives a 100 percent reliable message as to whether the lamp is on or off, for example, or whether the iron is switched off while on the move.

The use of the radio system is also particularly suitable where the subsequent addition and expansion of existing installations is either not possible at all or only very difficult, because no dirt arises during retrofitting and no mains connection is necessary for the transmitters.

A further advantage is the free placement of the wireless wall switches. The switches can be mounted exactly where they are needed without any restrictions: The switches can simply be stuck on glass, on the bed and even next to the shower. Not only practical, but also ideal for listed buildings.

The digital basis for Kopp’s Smart Home solution is the MINI gateway. It turns your Free Control installation into an introduction to your own Smart Home. It connects a multitude of devices across manufacturers and systems and combines them on a central interface: the Kopp HomeControl App. A number of smart home radio systems from different manufacturers can be controlled on the 868. 3 MHz radio frequency via IP network – either by smartphone, tablet or voice command.

VersaDOT and VersaPICK simplify the supply of energy

Digitalisation is changing our daily lives just as much as our professional lives. The number of tablets and smartphones, but also other electrical devices with USB charge, has multiplied rapidly in recent years. With its two new products VersaDOT and VersaPICK, Heinrich Kopp GmbH provides a better and simpler power supply. Gone are the days of cumbersome extension cables.

Desks, kitchen worktops and even upholstered furniture can be electrified with Kopp’s built-in sockets, i. e. supplied with their own connection. In this way, technology and furniture are brought together and tailor-made solutions are created: The power is exactly where you need it!

If the power is not nearby, you usually use extension cables and multiple plugs, which are not only visually unattractive, but also simply impractical. It is easy to stumble over a loose cable and thus not only interrupt the power supply, but can also injure yourself under certain circumstances.

The Kopp product VersaDOT is used for power supply via a Schutzkontaktsteckdose plug or USB ports. Whether in the kitchen or in the conference room, in the hotel or in the laboratory – the possibilities are almost unlimited. The round socket and USB installation modules are mounted in two simple steps. At first only the frame is mounted at the desired position. The housing can then be snapped into the frame. Since the cable connection runs downwards, it remains invisible. The module can be mounted in hard surfaces such as wood or plastic as well as in upholstered furniture.

VersaDOT will be available from June 2019 in three different surface finishes: Brushed stainless steel, shiny black or shiny white glass blend into any ambience.
VersaPICK is a USB charging module with two ports. This connection can also be mounted on both smooth and padded surfaces.

The model is now available in four different sizes and different versions. It consists of an installation kit and adapter. This Kopp product also has the cable outlet on the underside of the housing. VersaPICK is available in the plastic version in black, white and aluminium colours. In the metal version with Zamak alloy in matt black, matt white or brushed stainless steel.
